FAQ
What are the best food printers for cakes, small workshops and industrial production?
The best Lesepidado food printers vary depending on the type of application and the required production volumes.
-
Small artisan workshops
- Dolcina Pro: the ideal choice for high-resolution direct printing on cakes, biscuits, macarons, chocolate and many other products. It can handle items up to 13.5 cm high and 15 kg in weight, with automatic height adjustment via sensor.
- Zuccherina: an ultra-compact multifunction printer designed for printing on edible sheets such as Easyprint, wafer paper, sugar paste and chocotransfer, in A3, A4 and A5 formats.
-
Medium and large pastry businesses
- Pasticcina 5.0: an A3 sheet-fed printer suitable for medium and high production volumes, equipped with refillable ink tanks to reduce machine downtime.
- Deliziosa A3: a high-precision direct food printer, ideal for printing on products up to 14 cm high arranged on trays up to 60 cm long.
-
Food industry and high-volume production
- Infinity range (Infinity, Infinity 2.0, Infinity Therm): industrial continuous single-pass inkjet printing systems. They offer speeds of up to 25 metres per minute and can be integrated into existing production lines. The Ink Bulk system is designed for continuous production cycles, while the printable area can be scaled according to specific requirements. Custom solutions are developed to cover any printing area required by the customer.
What is the difference between direct food printing and printing on edible sheets?
- Direct food printing: carried out using plotter printers such as Dolcina Pro and Deliziosa A3. The image and edible ink are applied without contact directly onto the surface of the product, including cakes, biscuits, macarons, marshmallows, chocolate, icing sugar surfaces and jellies, on products up to 13.5–14 cm high.
- Printing on edible sheets: carried out using multifunction or A3 printers such as Zuccherina and Pasticcina 5.0. The design is printed onto a separate edible medium such as Easyprint by Lesepidado, wafer sheets, sugar paste sheets or chocotransfer sheets for chocolate, in formats ranging from A6 to A3. The printed sheet can then be cut to shape or applied whole to the final product.
Which edible inks and edible sheets should be used to avoid damaging food printers?
To prevent printhead clogging and extend the lifespan of the machine, only suitable consumables specifically formulated by Lesepidado should be used.
- Original Lesepidado edible inks: developed in Lesepidado’s R&D laboratories in Azo Free, Natural, Azo, ME and FDA-compliant formulations. Lesepidado printers feature RFID by Lesepidado technology to recognise original cartridges and protect printing components. They are available as single-use cartridges with integrated printheads, bottles for refillable tanks and industrial Ink Bulk systems.
- Certified edible sheets: media calibrated to ensure optimal feeding through the printer mechanisms, including Easyprint by Lesepidado, wafer paper, sugar paste sheets and chocotransfer sheets for transferring images onto chocolate.
How do you clean and maintain a food printer for cakes?
To ensure maximum efficiency of the mechanical components and maintain high hygiene standards, maintenance should include:
- Using edible cleaning fluids (Cleaning Fluid). Available in 100 ml, 500 ml and 1-litre containers, they are designed to remove edible ink residue from printheads without leaving deposits.
- Cleaning cycles and cleaning kits. Use the dedicated printhead cleaning kits.
- Cartridge protection. On models such as Deliziosa A3, cartridges should be removed during periods of inactivity and stored in the dedicated protective base to prevent the pigments from drying out.
